Brit's New Bike

Britni has been asking for a tandem bike for the last four years. She says that the reason she wants one is because they are cool, and look fun. The real reason I think is because she wants to ride on the back, so I can't see her relaxing while I do all the work pedaling. Anyways, Brit got this Specialized P3 so she can pull the girls in their new bike trailer, and I can ride it in her off time!!! Its not a tandem, but in my book - its better. Hopefully her track record proves to be better than that of driving her old purple Saturn. Although, I have yet to see anyone run into two parked cars and total two bikes like my brother Adam has. (He won't admit it.) The bike has Hayes hydraulic brakes, triple wall rims, Marzocchi dirt jumper II forks, XT components, Thompson seat post, and is set up for dirt jumping and skate parks. (P.S. - She is making me write this blog because she has no idea what any of that meant). But she loves it, and that is all that matters!!!

Happy Easter!

We had a great 1st Easter with the girls! Yesterday, Jeremy's younger brother - Jacob - flew into town with some friends to go rock climbing. That night we went out to sushi - which Jer and I decided that we could eat everyday! Then, this morning we had the girls open their Easter baskets which consisted of bath puppets, bath ABC letters (which read "Nelson Girls" until Kennedy stole the "S" right before the picture), books, shoes, etc. Then we headed off to church. The day ended by making a wonderful dinner with a very chocolaty chocolate cake - and taking the girls to some baby swings to get their energy out. We can't wait until next year when we get to do an Easter egg hunt!

So Pathetic!!!

Kennedy has learned how to climb up into the swing. Bailey likes to push her and make her laugh. Look at how funny/cute Kennedy is when she falls out of the swing. I could not stop filming because I had to capture how pathetic she was. Hopefully I'm not a bad DAD!!!

ARRRRR Matey! No more pirate!

So Wednesday was Bailey's big surgery - and I am sure glad it is over! For those of you that don't know, she had a clogged tear duct that constantly created yucky goop (which often times glued her left eye shut after naps - hence the nickname "pirate") Apparently, many babies have this issue, but it usually goes away on its own (like it did for Kennedy)

Now, I had supposed that the tear duct was the little pink guy found in the corner of one's eye, but lo and behold it is down much further than that. So seeing as it is down in the nasal cavity, she needed surgery. She could not eat after midnight, and her surgery was not until noon. Needless to say, I did not sleep at all the night before. I keep dreaming that she found a Cheerio in her crib!!!

Here she is pre-op, in her cute little hospital outfit hangin' out with her Daddy! The procedure itself was fast, although we were there for 4 hours, she was only "under" for about 10 minutes. She did really well. I can not believe how precious she looked while waking up in my arms!!! Then, we got to go to post-op for a few hours while she got some fluid back in her body. She did not cry, nor get sick. So pretty much, the surgery was harder on the parents than it was on her. We are glad that this day is over - and can not wait to see her eye after the swelling from surgery is gone. Isn't she a doll? All wrapped up snug as a bug trying to wake up and drink something!

Milk!

So tonight it happened... my many months of getting strange looks from my girls have paid off. Kennedy signed milk! She actually did it Saturday when Adam was over, but I blew it off as a coincidence. So this evening, when it was time for our nightly bottles she was getting a little fussy, she looked over in the kitchen and signed milk perfectly! I was surprised and ran over to make her a bottle as fast as I could, hoping she would process the consequence with her action. I am pretty happy about this new discovery. HOORAY!

Soups!

I know the weather is almost too warm for this, but I'm starting to try and get together some themed dinner ideas (i.e. for example in cold months I want to do a soup for dinner one night a week) While my chicken noodle soup recipe is to die for, I am in desperate need for new, delicious ideas. So this is my shout out for help! Either e-mail me one, or add it to my comments. Bon appetite!
