Hope 2008 will be great!

We can't believe that 2008 is already here! We have lots going on already, and hope that 2008 will be even better than 2007. Here is a brief look at what last year brought for us....

January: We spent New Years Eve at a cabin with a few of our friends. We had never been there before, and were told that because of the snow we would have to walk a little bit to get there. Well, that little bit turned into 2 miles up a snowy mountain - and here Britni was pregnant! (as was fellow cabin friend Mariela) It turned out to be fun, and Brit got to sled the whole way down =) January also brought a baby shower in Las Vegas thrown by Aunt Liz - as well as a black tie ball that we attended for Britni's work. Brit double-dog dared Jeremy, as well as offered him a new tool, to go out to the dance floor and boogie with all the smashed 50 year old woman - needless to say he is still using his old tools.

Finally, the month ended on a scary note as Britni went into labor on the 31st, and was told they were going to have a C-section that evening to deliver 1 pound babies - EEK! - we are sure glad the drugs kicked in to stop the labor!

February: Kind of a boring month for us. Brit had to up and quit her job, and was put on full time bed rest. At first, she was so excited, what could be better than lounging around in your pajamas all day long? But, she was surprised at how fast that got old. Brit's mom and Aunt came out to cook and clean for us - and then Jer's parents came to help out as well. So, besides Britni becoming a Suduko master, not much happened in that short cold month.

March: Although amidst a full time schedule at school and work, Jeremy decided to take on more home projects. One morning Britni woke up and there were six holes in the ceiling and the sheet rock was all over the floor, so she turned around and went back to bed. Turns out he was installing can lighting (which makes a HUGE difference in our living room) and repainting. He also took on painting the little girls room. Britni thought he was going to die when she showed him the pinks that she wanted on the wall (he grew up with all boys), but he took it well and made a beautiful design in their room. And... oh yeah.. Brinti was getting huge!

April: What a month! On the 12th, Britni's fluid levels were low for Kennedy, so she was induced. She called Jeremy, who was taking a final, and told him what was happening. He rushed to the hospital and hours later walk in Kristy, Sally, and Trish. Nothing appeared to be happening, so they ALL left to get dinner, meanwhile Britni dilates to a 10! Jerks! j/k Then after 3 hours of pushing and the left side of her epidural not working, Britni was was not getting anywhere. Turns out Bailey was wrapped around Kennedy's legs (in essence hanging on for dear life) so Britni went in for a C-section. While Jer was getting scrubbed in, Britni's left side would still not go numb. So, she had to be completely knocked out, and Jer could not come in =( She lost lots of blood and had other weird procedures happen in the delivery room, but the girls got here safe and sound. Kennedy weighed in at 5lbs 15 oz and Bailey right behind at 5lbs 2 oz. They were completely healthy, and Jer got to go in while they took their first bath!

May: May brought lots of visitors to us! We always had a packed house - which was fun. Nana and Papa (Jer's parents) stayed with us the longest - 3 months! They were our saving grace. We don't know how we would have done it without them, especially when Jer would call it a night, and close his bedroom door for the evening because he had to wake up early the next morning. We really appreciate their help especially during those late nights. Great-grandpa Olvera came out and got to see his first great-grandchildren ever! Next, Brit's mom was back again; we just couldn't keep her away from her first grandchildren. Finally, Aunt Liz and Uncle Wayne stopped by on their trip home from Colorado and got to see and hold the babies, then Beka and Jacob flew out to spend some time with their nieces. It was nice to have so many people around to help, and to let Britni take a nap every once in a while!

June: Summer came real fast. We never wished more for a house with central air, then we did this year. It was the hottest summer Salt Lake had on record, and Brit was breast feeding the girls! Also, this month, we "came out of hibernation" and took the girls to their first day at church. Needless to say, we were overwhelmed and could not envision how we would ever be able to sit through 3 hours of church with two wiggling screaming babies! Thank goodness it has gotten better and the girls now do pretty well on Sundays. Finally, at the end of the month on the 26th, we celebrated our 3-year anniversary. We left the girls with the grandparents , and Jer took Brinti up the canyon to this secluded restaurant. It was so peaceful and beautiful, plus the food was great. We were going to try and see a movie afterward, but went home and went to sleep. Man, we sure have turned into some old fogies!

July: July brought a lot of fun things. First, Aunt Kira attended a camp in Utah and then got to stay the month with us. The babies were blessed on the 1st by their father. He was way nervous and said that his hands were wet with sweat, but he did a great job! Then, the girls had their fist experience with firecrackers as they celebrated their first holiday, the 4th of July. We brought them outside to see the mischief their Dad was getting into, when a really loud one went off , and Kennedy threw her arms up in the air and bawled. Britni had to take her indoors for some consolation. This month we also took the girls swimming for their first time ever! And they loved it so much, they both feel asleep in the water!Lastly, at the end of the month, Britni's whole family came up to visit/see the babies. The girls loved meeting their Grandpa Chris, and Uncle Ethan and Arran for the first time.

August: Another slow month for us. Jer had about a week off of summer school, before he started classes again at the end of the month. On the 31st, we flew to Vegas..... for a special event that took place in September. The girls' first flight went great, no ear problems, just sleeping babies. It was the parents that had it bad trying to carry two car seats with the bases, a double stroller, a carry on and a diaper bag around the airport!

September: Britni was the maid of honor at one of her best friend's weddings! Ironically, she (Melissa) married Britni's first cousin, Wayne - and even weirder, they met on their own. It was a really fun and busy weekend with the bridal shower, bachelorette party, rehearsal dinner , and wedding and reception itself! Unfortunately, Jeremy was really sick and left the wedding reception early - somehow he always gets out of dancing!

October: October is for some reason Britni's favorite month. Maybe it's the cool weather or the fact that her favorite holiday is at the end of the month. Whatever it is, October proved to be great yet again. We went to to a party on the 20th, which Bailey absolutely loved! While Kennedy went to bed, Bailey stayed up and entertained everyone with her interpretation of the yoga pose "down dog." Then, the weekend after, we threw an adult only party! (Since the girls were going to sleep at 6:00, we took advantage of the free evenings) It was fun and filled with mingling, games, and food. Finally, we went trick-or-treating on Halloween with Jer's parents. Yes, it was embarrassing when people were giving us candy and not the kids, but we had to let them experience their first trick-or-treating. (Bailey is the monkey, and Kennedy is the lion)

November: It was a slow start for cold weather, but we finally got some in November. The leaves were beautiful and it was a great month to give thanks! Brit's family came out for Thanksgiving, and had a wonderful holiday (which any holiday centered around food usually is). We were especially excited when Bailey learned how to crawl!

December: We were very busy this month as Jeremy was taking finals, and Britni was getting things ready for Christmas. We went to a ward party, and also went on vacation (see previous post about Christmas for us). On vacation, Kennedy finally stopped flopping around the room like a walrus, and started to do a real crawl! Now, with both girls crawling, nothing in our home is sacred. It was great to be away, and really made me think about how blessed we are. We got to participate in a Christmas service project that Sally, Beka, and Trish put together, and am glad to have had the opportunity to serve. We can't wait to teach the girls the value of serving others, and what the really important things are in life!

Oh, and I think those are some of the best Halloween costumes I've ever seen. Britni, you need to work on your "character" look. Women don't smile on safaris:)
