Twins 2nd Birthday Party, Take 2

We had such a fun party this year. A lot of work, but fun.
We decorated....

Made treats and a cake....

Hung out with friends....

Pigged out....

Sang "Happy Birthday" and blew out the candles...

And opened presents...

With about 70 people making their appearance, this party was a success. (Unlike a past Halloween one that was NOT - but that is a whole other blog!)
Thanks to everyone that came and helped. Next year, we are forgoing the party and hopefully going to Disneyland!

Twins 2nd Birthday Party, Take 1

The theme: Dr. Seuss' Cat in the Hat
The location: Our home and backyard
The occasion: Bailey and Kennedy's Birthday/ Our housewarming Party!

Here is a poem that I wrote in Seuss style. This was at the party in a photo album with "before" pictures of our house.....

The sun did not shine
The market was not a fun game to play
So we put offers on houses
For what seemed like day after day

I sat there with Jeremy
We sat there, we two
And I said, “How I wish
We’d find a house that would do!”

Too far out of our price range
That seemed like them all
So we sat at the in-laws
We did nothing at all.

All we could do was to
Sit!
Sit!
Sit!
Sit!
And we did not like it
Not one little bit

And then
Something went Knock!
How that Knock made us flock!

We looked
Then we saw him at the front door
We looked!
And we saw him!
A neighbor we’d known before
And he said to us,
“There’s a home that you just can’t ignore”

“I know it is small
And it needs lots of work
But to pass up this neighborhood
You’d have to be be-zerk!”

“I know a real good agent”
Said our home teacher one day
“A real good agent that
will help you on your way
Here is her number
I will give it to you
She’s my daughter and
Will not mind at all if I do.”

Then Jeremy and I
Did not know what to say
It looked as though our luck
might just turn around that day

But our bank said “Wait! Wait!
This home’s a short sale
How long will that take?
Well, no one can ever tell
They usually are not short
In fact they are often long.”
And every month we waited
Seemed really lame and wrong

“Now! Now! Have no fear
Have no fear!” Said our agent
“The right home will come
Even if this ones not meant
Why we can place offers on
any other home – place a bid.”
So we looked and we looked
And that’s exactly what we did

But our bids were being outbid –
It was no fun at all
So we stopped looking all together
And wanted to curl up in a ball

Then December came a call
What could this mean?
They had accepted our offer!
Could this be a dream?
But before we knew it was done
And we signed our papers with a grin
Then with a sigh we looked at our house
And thought where to begin?
So we ripped off the front of the house-
Put up new windows and a door
Took down the popcorn ceilings,
torn down a wall, scrubbed the floor
Put in a nice laundry room,
new carpets and all new lights
Retextured and painted the walls and
cleaned the house will all our mights!

Now our house is a home
Although there is still much to do
Oh well…
At least it is done enough
to have this party with you!

First Hair Cuts

Even though it was over a month ago, I wanted to post pictures of the girls first hair cuts! I know, kinda crazy that they were almost 2 before they got their hair chopped, but Jer was holding onto the long girl hair thing.

We gave Kennedy a ring pop to bribe her to hold still. Apparently, she thought it was a binky!

Bailey, on the other hand, choose the candy cane - which was soon covered in little blonde hair. She didn't mind.

For those of you that have not seen them, their hair cuts look awesome! We went short for Bailey since her hair was thinner and a little more scraggly. Now it looks full and beautiful in her little bob. Kennedy, like Bailey, got bangs but we opted to just trim her hair and keep it long. It is nice to let them look a little different as we are seeing more and more of their very different personalities.

Thanks for Karissa for doing such a fabulous job

Easter Sunday

Sunday morning the girls woke up....

And ran as fast as they could to see what the Easter Bunny had left them.

Ta-dah...

And Daddy got one too! Apparently the East Bunny forgot to get Dad an Easter basket and used this. And since Dad complains that he is fat, he got a whole bunch of sauces instead of candy (even a favorite sauce from a store in Utah)

Chapstick was a favorite in Kennedy's basket.

Bailey too!

Happy family

"I love my care bear" (thank you to the yard sale the day before that had two of these!)

Easter Saturday

So Easter this year, was better than ever.

I love celebrating holidays, and it seems like the girls are finally getting to understand them a little more - which of course makes it WAY more fun!

We tried to do the whole "egg coloring" "egg huntuning" on Saturday. So that we could leave Sunday for the Easter baskets and the religious part. Pretty much, it was a good idea, but the girls wanted to play Sunday as well. Go figure.

I tried to teach them to use the egg dipper thing, but they thought their hands worked just as well.

This is the look we get when we tell Bailey to smile!

AND THEN THE HUNT BEGINS......

(they really did not get it! - but followed me around and laughted everytime I showed them where an egg was)

Much need updates!

So, life has been crazy. In the month of March, I got to see 3 of my most favorite people! First my awesome friend Kaylene, who is from Sacramento, but whom I know from BYU. She is great and her adorable son seems to grow so much every time I see him!
Next.... Adam. Adam if you are reading this - PLEASE move back. I miss you sooooo much - and that is all I have to say about that.
Finally, my BFF Stacia! Her and her beautiful family were down last weekend. I really miss having her around all the time, but it was way cool that we have been able to see each other as often as we have.

Now as to what else has been going on. I started my first official day of teaching preschool on April 2nd. It went surprisingly well. I love the 6 little children who come to my home, and can't wait to meet more in the Fall. I am still getting the hang of what schedule works, what activities the children are interested in, and most importantly what snack they like to eat. Apparently you do not win the teacher popularity contest if you give the children the Easter eggs that they dyed to eat. Who knew?

The girls got their first hair cuts. I know, at almost 2 years old - it was about time. They look adorable - and are getting compliments all the time! Also, the big news in our home is the easy, and yes I said easy and my children in the same sentence, transition from cribs to big girl beds. They are growing up so fast. It is kind of hitting me lately that they are not babies. *Sigh* Anyone know any babies that need a home? or how to make a quick 20k? (Red Hawk didn't work out so well for me the other night, seriously!)
