So, now that Jeremy has graduated we are like, "What are we doing here?"Thanks to our handy-dandy chalk board in our kitchen, we now have some answers... or maybe just more questions. Here is what we have come up with in the last month or so.

PROS OF UTAH:

What do you think?

You forgot earthquakes and mudslides for California. Oh yes, and a seriously depleted state cofer and I mean seriously. Having lived in both California and Nevada I can tell you this, both school systems are horrid. Thank goodness if you were only going by school systems you'd lose immediately both ways. For school, either go private or east coast, where you will get a much better education. If it were me, I would say Southern Utah as #1 and Southern Nevada #2.
In Nevada for what you both would qualify, the job picture is very good. There is one more plus and it is the best reason I can think of. Their names are Chris and Kristy!!!!! The love they have for the "Nelson Family" is far beyond compare. How do I know? I am part of the family that could have been shut out. They never kept you, Britni and your sister Bianca away from us. No they don't have much money, but what they do have is so much love to give and in my book that clearly outweighs anything this world, California, Nevada, and Utah have put all together.
Love,
Aunt Liz
Brad and I both agree with your number 3 con for Utah.
My vote is for CALIFORNIA, preferably southern, like San Diego :)
Sacramento all the way! I am just saying that because I am probably somewhat biased. But, hey! I agree with the raising kids in Utah. I thought it was perfect in Sacramento because there was enough members of the church but not too much. I like to be different. It was fun to really rely on each other. Remember the "Crew". But, on the other hand. Utah is so family friendly. There is tons of outdoors stuff to do. It seems like there is always events or fun things to do. Tough call. You guys will know. Maybe, you should stay there for a little longer until you feel really strongly about moving to California. You don't want to get there and regret moving. Anyways, these are always the hardest decisions in life. Good luck!
Isn't like half of California on fire? You should stay. Your family is so entertainig! And you know those yearly vacations are going to be awesome! Just move closer to us and we'll have some fun.
Ummm.. is there any question that Sacramento is the best?
All the studies have shown that Oklahoma City is the best...You should move there, in August actually.
Is this even a question? OF COURSE you should move to California. WE MISS YOU GUYS!!!!! We have been Nelson deprived for what seems like forever!
Britni--I'm so sorry that we missed you in Utah, but I'm so glad you guys had a fun time in California. I actually agree with some of the other commenters that Sacramento is a great place. We lived there for a time and would've stayed had Jared not found a better job elsewhere. It really is wonderful!! Thank you also for your comment on my blog today. I debated with myself all night last night whether or not to post that, but in the end I'm glad I did. I think there are a lot of people in that situation and for some reason it seems it's a taboo subject. So, thank you for adding your thoughts. I really appreciated them :) Hope you guys are doing well and give those cute girls of yours a hug!!
Holy, the concert was beyond awesome!!! Besides the stupid tall people (dang them)! I was hoping that you would be there. It was great! Also; are you guys going to be to church not this Sunday but maybe the next? Because we are thinking that we are going to come visit...
sorry for the random comment. my parents said they saw you at raley's! let my dad hook you up with a sweet job. or at least some leads. we would love to have more of you guys out here.
p.s. your girls are darling....congrats!!
Hey Britni & Jeremy: having lived in calif for 25-yrs, I can say we would be back there today IF: the cost of living wasn't so high, the state taxes weren't so repressive, the population wasn't so exploded, we enjoyed paying so much more for so much less .... well, you get the idea! The salaries are higher there for a reason. If I could somehow drag the weather from there to here, I would do it in a heartbeat.
And just a little reality check on selling your UT home .... seriously look at how long homes are taking to sell right now & how much the prices have dropped. Even if you sell at a technical loss, you'll have capital gains tax to think about because you had renters & that needs to be recaptured.
I'm not saying don't go for it, especially if you have a specific opportunity that makes sense, I'm just thinking you may need to look beyond your list of pros & cons. And not to be all doom/gloom, we miss calif every day & know that whatever you decide will be best for you!
I'm just going to throw it out there that Oregon is amazing! It is kinda close to Cali, and its super close to us! Move here!
