He's Here....

*Excerpt from my journal on Jan 29, 2012 (my 29th "golden" birthday)

"Today is my 29th birthday! Soooooo happy baby came while I was still 28 years old (makes me feel younger)

BIRTH STORY:

At about 3:00 am on January 26th, I had a contraction that woke me up, so I went to the bathroom and it went away. Then at 5:00, I woke up again. This time the pain was bad enough that I couldn't go back to sleep. I took a shower and then started cleaning the house thinking activity would stop the pain. When the contractions kept coming, I woke up Jeremy to tell him I think we should go to the hospital. By this time, Kennedy was awake and hanging out with me while I was blow drying my hair. Not thinking we were in a super big hurry, Jeremy started shaving his head, and I had Kennedy call Sally to see if she would come down and be with the girls and teach preschool for the day (yes, I was still working and planning on teaching that morning!) While talking to Sally/blow drying my hair, my water broke. I told Jeremy who sped up his head shaving/shower so we could get going. I started making breakfast (hey! I was starving), but decided against it. On the way to the hospital we stopped by McDonald's (gross, I know!), and of course it took forever because it was new and no one knew what they were doing. By now, the contractions were hurting pretty bad and I asked Jeremy to wheelchair me into the hospital. I had called ahead so they had a room all ready for me. My first question was when could I get something for pain (since I was REALLY hurting by now). The nurse decided to check me and said my pain was probably due to the fact that I was dilated to an 8! Some people would be happy to hear how fast their labor was going - BUT NOT ME! To me, that meant one thing - I was NOT getting an epidural :( I began to panic. I had a c-section with the girls so this was all new to me - I wasn't sure I was going to be able to do it. Yet, sometime between checking in at 7:00 am, my doctor showed up, my second attempt at starting an I.V. was successful, and we had ourselves a new baby boy by 8:17am. I am still not sure why anyone would ever CHOOSE to do childbirth without any pain medications, but now I guess I can say I experienced it, right? I am grateful for a kind doctor and husband who told me I could do it - even when I told them I couldn't breathe, I couldn't push, I just plain couldn't do it. But, I did and now we are blessed with August Nash Nelson, 7lbs 5 oz, and 19 inches of perfection!"

It's the most Wonderful Time of the Year...

In December, we were finishing up our addition. Here is the girls new room with walk and closet and wainscoting!

Had a little family gathering to make cookies for Santa! The girls LOVED it, and so did my tummy ;)

Then, Christmas morning. It was magical. The girls ran out to see THIS bad bad in the living room. They were so happy Santa was able to have his elves make this in time.

Here are the girls with their Christmas stashes. Baby brother even had a pair of blue converse in his stocking. The girls can not wait until he gets to open presents next year.!

What a difference a year makes....

This picture was taken on Thanksgiving. Check out our matching outfits. Yeah, I am dork I know.
I am so GRATEFUL for the family that I have. and ESPECIALLY for the little healthy baby inside of me. Last Thanksgiving, we did not do anything as I was resting from my last IVF. We had a lot of hope, but that was crushed when our test was Negative. I thought our family would not grow anymore. Ever. What a difference a year makes.

Kennedy gets her tonsils and adenoids removed!

The date was 11/11/11 .... spooky, right?
Well, let's start at the beginning. This summer during preschool we were doing a unit on the 5 senses. Trish was having everyone stick out their tongue and look at their taste buds. It was then, that Trish said, "Have you looked at Kennedy's tonsils, they are HUGE!" I just assumed she was getting sick. But when she did not get sick, I checked again. Still huge. Then I realized that a 4 year old should probably not be snoring like an old man. This was confirmed when we saw an ENT who said that they should probably be removed. That was around November 2. Well, being uncomfortably pregnant already, I thought we should probably get this show on the road....so fast forward to
11/11/11.
Here is Kennedy playing nervously as she has no idea what is really about to happen.

Right before surgery in her cute gown.

Then, there was the AFTER surgery. It did not get any pictures. Probably because I was traumatized and so was Kennedy. We didn't need to remember with pics, but I will recall with words. The nurse made us say goodbye to Kennedy so they could take her to the OR. She screamed and tried to hold onto us as they ripped her away. I was heart broken and while the surgery was relatively quick, it felt like FOREVER. Then, they came to tell us everything went fine and that she was waking up.  A few minutes later they let us back. The nurse looked at Jeremy and I and said, "It is totally normal for children to be upset when they wake up. Do you recognize that scream?" Ummmm, no actually I don't. It was a scared and uncontrollable scream. I ran to her. Blood was coming out of her nose and mouth. I took her from the nurses arms and she was thrashing and yelling. I realized that this was probably not the best for my big tummy, and with guilt I handed her to Jeremy. She screamed when she saw her IV. I had them remove it. She screamed when she saw blood. I lied and told her it was the doctors not hers. She would calm down and almost fall back asleep at time, then scream again. She didn't want ANYONE to talk. She didn't want popsicles. Before, I knew it they were sending us home. I babied her and kicked Jeremy to the couch for the next couple of nights. Kennedy slept in my bed, and I would watch her with baited breath. But, surprisingly, just days later, she was back to her old happy self. AND by some blessing/ miracle she only remembered bits and pieces of the whole event.

October happenings!

October is my favorite month!  We went to Vegas and St. George. While in Vegas we carved pumpkins, made Halloween cookies, played with my family, and had a baby shower. In St. George, Jeremy took the girls dirt bike riding. They LOVED it!

We went to a pond and fed the ducks ...

We went to a monument in St. George where a statue of one of my ancestors stands!

Then my favorite holiday... HALLOWEEN! We were the holidays (i.e. Santa, Cupid, Easter Bunny, and a Leprechaun)

And of course we carved pumpkins with the family.

My pumpkin won the family contest a 3rd year in a row - BOO-YAH!!
